Right upper back pain, especially in pregnancy should give a suspicion of pyelonephritis
. Pregnancy is a risk factor to develop urinary tract
infections. It is absolutely important to exclude this. I suggest you do a urinary dip stock, urine culture and sensitivity tests. A clinical evaluation shall very appropriate to exclude a lung infection
that could also present itself as such.
Based on the clinical assessment, your treating physician will decide on either prescribing an ultrasound
or not. Taking an appointment with your obstetrician is appropriate. If the appointment can take so long, going to the primary care
physician or emergency room could be appropriate.
