Pregnant. Had Taken Ipill. Fetus Appeared Normal. Will This Affect The Baby?
My Wife is found to be 6 week 5 days pregnant on 18th Sep. we had unprotected sex around 8-15th Aug and post that she had consumed 1 i-pill within 48hrs. she had the mensuration on 3rd Aug only for 3days.. we had used lubricant under Durex brand available at health store during intercourse. I would like to understand the any effects on the baby as a result of above usage as this is unplanned.. Please advice. we are very skeptical of any issue with the baby... As per early pregnancy scan.. fetus appeared normal and in good condition... Your views will be useful.. Age of Wife 26 years..other stats are normal as per recent check up at Fortis.

The I pill has no EFFECT on the developing fetus.
Please do not worry on that score.
Also, the lubricant would not adversely affect the baby also.
As the growth scan is quite normal also, please proceed with the pregnancy normally.

Hello,
Having conceived after consuming an emergency pill indicates that ovulation was not inhibited. The pill was actually taken before the onset of ovulation calculating by the dates given. Effect of hormones is observed after 45 days of pregnancy when sexual differentiation initiates and prior to that has minimal effects on the pregnancy. So, as such there is not much reason to worry. You can follow up the pregnancy and get anomalies scan later and discuss the same with your consultant. Hope your query is clarified. Take care.
