Pregnant. Brownish Red Discharge With Small Clots Like Low Flow Periods. Advised Hcg Test. Concerning?

Imcurrently 6 weeks pregnant I took 4 tests over a 3 day period a week ago and all were positive. Last night I started to have brownish red discharge and today am passing clots not big ones by any means, but this is acting like a very low flow period like. I have notified my dr and he had me go get a hcg test today and I have another one Monday. I don't have any cramps just extremely fatigued. I'm really confused because I didn't have any symptoms with my first pregnancy. Is this normal? Or should I be more concerned if it was heavier with cramps?

Hello,
thanks for using health care magic

It is a good thing that you got your doctor informed.

there are several possibilities but it is likely that you could be having a threatened abortion which is a serious issue. Almost every woman has at least a threatened abortion in one pregnancy or the other but only a few actually results in abortion. Cases in which the foetus has abnormalitiesdefinitely will naturally terminate themselves in most cases and during the first trimester.

You need to do an ultrasound which will check for viability and presence or not of subchorionic hemorrhage which will all give vital information.

For now, you need;
-absolute rest,
-no sexual intercourse
-and your doctor might consider putting you on progesterone.

Hope this helps
