Popping Noise In Hand. Pain When Curling Finger. Any Suggestions?

Hello, I was bouldering yesterday, a sort of rock climbing, indoors, and as i was hanging on the tips of my fingers, i heard a sudden popping noise from my right hand . It felt like it came from the middle of my palm where yuo can feel tendons/muscles from the ring and index fingers when you wiggle them. there is no visible swelling , and i can type and write without any problems (apart from a bit of soreness), but any action where i try to curl my ring finger against a force (something as simple as pressing a piano key) causes pain. Everywhere i looked, it is suggested to ice/wrap against swelling...but there is no swelling or discoloration in the area. Furthermore, pressing on the area that hurts with my other hand doesn t cause any pain (besides a bit of soreness) Any suggestions besides rest?

Orthopaedic Surgeon, Joint Replacement 's  Response
Hello,
Thanks for your query.

From description it seems to be trigger finger. Icing, taking antiinflammatory drug will be helpful.
You may consult physiotherapist for further guidance. He may start TENS, or ultrasound which is helpful in your case. If pain persist steroid injection can be given. I suggest you to consult an orthopaedician nearby for a detailed examination.

I do hope that you have found something helpful and I will be glad to answer any further query.
Take care
