Polyps may be seen /felt protruding from the anus.Commonly hyperplastic polyps, which are usually quite small (less than 5 mm) and benign. Other possibility it is anal tags which are generally asymptomatic and often are the remnants of previously thrombosed external hemorrhoids (sentinel piles).
External hemorrhoids begin below the dentate line & can can cause a bulge at the time of defecation.Rarely it may be adenomatous polyps
(tubular, tubulovillous and villous) which are precursors to cancer and are also termed “neoplastic polyps". In any case you can wait for sometime and watch if it regresses on its own.If not ,proctoscopic examination by a surgeon will be required.
