Psychiatrist 's  Response
Hi,

I can understand your distress regarding your frequent episodes of panic. Your condition is highly amenable to treatment. I suggest you seek a psychiatric consultation for the same.

Some baseline investigations like complete blood counts, liver and renal function, lipid profile, thyroid function in addition to an ECG and chest X ray (considering you are a smoker) would be required to rule out any underlying medical condition. Treatment with medications like selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors is effective and safe option for panic disorder. In addition, you must quit smoking. You can discuss regarding the same with your psychiatrist. In case, you can't quit on your own, treatment with nicotine substitution or bupropion can be tried. You can also consider exercising on a daily basis, as that will help you control your anxiety.

Hope this information was helpful. Best wishes.
