Pinhole Cut In Outer Ear, Bleeds Leading To Fainting. What Could It Be ?

My boyfriend has what looks like a pinhole cut in his outer ear . Its impossible to see until it starts bleeding . When it starts bleedinf it bleeds alot almost to the point where he faints. And then it stops. The bleeding occurs randomly like once a week. It just happened last nite in his sleep. We cant aee any damage to the ear at all the only thing we can see is that the blood is coming from a pinhole shaped cut. What could this POSSIBLY be!?

Hi Anna,
Welcome to Healthcare Magic!
This type of strange and troubling bleed results mostly from abnormal superficial dilated vessels.
Next time when the bleeding occur, compress the bleeding area with your palms to the point that it starts paining. The idea is to drush the thin walled abnormal vessel so that it would get scarred in the healing time. It may bleed slightly more than expected, keep compressed for 10 full minutes.
If this does not help then you can consult an ENT doctor who would seal the bleeding point with cautery or local slerosant injection.
I hope the advise would be helpful for you.
