Painful Sex, Unable To Reach, Soreness. Used Lubricants. What Is Going On?

Hi, my partner and I are having difficulty. Penetration is painful for me. i have not had sex in 6 years and had no problems before that. Why suddenly now is penetration so sore? Have tried lubricants which helped a little, but still not 100% Could it be that the vaginal muscles have tightened up for lack of use?

Hello,
thanks for using health care magic

What you present with is vaginismus. Vaginismus is an involuntary spasm of muscles around the vagina that cause the vagina to become close.

This could be due to past sexual trauma, fear or there could be no associated cause.

It is important to meet a doctor for a detail exam and tests for possible causes of vaginismus and dyspareunia (painful intercourse).

In the absence of any organic cause, you will need a lot of fore play with your husband, mind preparation early enough and not just at the time of sex, and only have sex when you are fully aroused.

Women who have reached menopause have atrophic vaginitis and this is the cause of their pains.

Best regards
Dr Achuo
