Painful, Scabbed Over Red Sore Near Mouth, No Itching. Applied Muciprocin. Possible Cold Sore Or Herpes?

i have a red sore next to the corner of my mouth, not on my lips though. it hurts and has scabbed over, doesnt itch. i have never had a cold sore before but wondering if this is it? dont know how i could have been exposed to the virus that causes them. are they contagious? and is it true that it can transmit herpes if it is a coldsore? i have muciprocin to put on in because it could be just a scratch but i dont know.

Hi,
It seems that you might be having Angular stomatitis.
It takes long time to heal as due to talking, chewing corner of lips stretches and does not allow to heal the sore part.
Take some B.complex, folic acid supplements.
Continue applying muciprocin locally.
Ok and take care.
