Painful Lump On Neck, Not Suffering From A Cold. Causes And Treatment?

MY son a a Lump on his neck the past week or so and complains its painful at times.. I am not sure what it is and i thought it would go away within a week but has not.. He has not had a cold the last couple of weeks that I can remember.. Today after I dropped him off at school the school called and my son asked to go home due to pain from his lump. Is this serious?

Well, if it’s a painful lump then u need to answer few questions, whether there is fever or not,pain on touchin g etc…only then nature of the problem can be ascertained……..

Hi welcome to Health care magic forum. It might not be a lump, it migt be a gland due to throat infection, tooth infection, head lice, or any scratch of the skin of head. though not sure the pain in the school may be a temporary pain due to some irritation like biting some hard food.
i advise you to consult a pediatrition for diagnosis and treatment. after examining the mouth, teeth, scalp, ears etc and decide the diagnosis.
besides i advise you to follow some diet recommendations for him as give him more of green leafy vegetables, pulses, sprouts, milk, egg, meat, bone soups, sea foods, fruits juices and dry fruits to improve the blood and resistance to combat such infections.Wishing him a quick recovery, and thanks for calling.
