Painful Cramp In The Calf Causing A Bruise. IS It Possible?

Hey, I m 24 female. Last night while sleeping I had a painful cramp on my calf that woke me up. Today I have a red bruising on my calf. Could the cramp have caused the bruise? More details: I m on no medication or blood thinners. Also I m not on the pill . I am slightly overweight and I walked for about half hour the day before, if that makes any difference.

Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
Hello.
Thanks for writing to us.
A strong cramp of the leg can cause a muscle injury causing a mild internal bleeding which has resulted in the bruise. This is likely to subside with icing and adequate rest. Please do not worry.
I hope this information has been both informative and helpful for you.
