Pain In The Ribs While Laughing Or Breathing Deeply After A Tight Hug. Chances Of Injury?

Thanks, a friend grabbed me and gave me a bear hug from behind. I immediately felt what I describe as my rib rolling , turning, a sharp shooting pain , didn't hear a crack

He felt it too and said, " what have I done ?'

Two days later the area is not swollen but I can't breathe deeply laugh or cough or twist ,it hurts to touch it

Dear Sir/ Ma'am,

Sorry to hear about your problem. It seems that due to the hug, he might have either left you with a bad muscle bruise or a fractured rib and unfortunately, the pain of both the conditions lasts for atleast a week. First of all, you should get a x-ray done to rule out a fracture. That is not going to change the management but it is better to be aware of it.
You can try hot and cold fomentation of the area and in addition to that you can take over the counter analgesics up to three times a day. If you can get a prescription for tramadol from a doctor, that would be really helpful in taking care of the pain.

Hoping for the best.
