Pain In The Kidney, Nausea, Bloating And Lack Of Appetite. E Coli Infection In Urine. IS It Serious?

I've had pain in my left kidney / flank along with extreme nausea and bloating, no appetite for approx 2 months. Last weekend I was in agony and a trip to ER suspected kidney stones. none were found on CT scan and I was sent home with Dilaudid. The urine culture came back yesterday as E-Coli (suspected in the kidney as I have no signs / symptoms of a lower UTI....no fever, pain or burning and no increase in frequency. I have a script for Cipro. I am in a lot of discomfort currently, feeling very bloated and nauseous and wondered if I could take the dilaudid with cipro. How serious is e-coli in the kidney and shouldn't I be tested further?

Hi welcome to Health care magic forum.
Thanks for calling H.C.M.Forum.
You had pain in the flanks, nausea, bloating, no appetite since two months. ER got the C.T.scan done nothing found, and sent home with dilaudid, culture and sensitivity came positive with E.coli, and cipro is prescribed. Now you are in lot of discomfort, bloated, and nauseous.
Dilaudid is hydromorphone compound, for pain relief, don't worry about the combination. Cipro is more gastric irritant, it can cause all these symptoms in majority of the people. E.coli though virulant may not show such changes immediately.
I advise you to consult your doctor to clarify the doubt,You may need to use P.P.I, or such products for recovery of the symptoms.
Wishing for a quick and complete recovery.
Best regards.
