Pain In The Center Of Chest, Severe Migraines. Born With Hole In Heart. Signs Of Heart Attack?

I have been having pain in the center of my chest for the last 2 nights. It does not go away until I get up. I have also had several really bad migraines. I was born with a small hole in my heart and have been checked for changes there about 5 months ago and there have been no changes. I am 54 years old and am afraid that I may be having a heart attack .

Hi and thanks for the question,
Chest pain with a past history of heart disease deserves an evaluation to exclude any cardiovascular origin. A simple chest X ray shall help in distinguishing a cardiac form a respitaory cause. Clinical evaluation shall o a big role in actually ascertaining whether you headache is actually a migraine headache, measure your blood pressure to exclude any high blood pressure and look for signs of heart failure or other disease. Depending on this evaluation, a cardiac ultrasound and an electrocardiogramme to evaluate heart function and electrical activity could be of much help.
A good clinical examination and biological tests shall tell us whether is a pulmonary disease, a myocardial infarction, microemboli or angina. Pulmonary causes shall also be ruled out.
I will suggest you book an appointment with your cardiologist for a proper physical examination and management.
'Thanks and best regards,
Luchuo, MD.
