Hello, Thanks for your query. You description of symptoms shows that you are having neuralgia (trigeminal neuralgia), which presents with frequent attacks of one side facial pain and tenderness. It is caused by pressure or irritation of nerve by abnormal blood vessels, neck arthritis, trauma,multiple sclerosis or metabolic disorders. It can be treated with antiseizure drugs such as Tegretol or Neurontin.Some antidepressant drugs also have significant pain relieving effects.
