Pain In Left Eye, Jaw, Complete Left Side Of Face. Causes And Cure?

The whole left side of my face (from the top of my forehead to my jaw bone) is very tender and hurts to the touch. Back behind my teeth ( wisdom tooth area?) hurts as well, but the worst pain in my left eye. It almost seems that the pain is coming from under my top eyelid . Kinda like a sty but I don t see anything, and in the past when I have had sties It has never effected the whole side of my face like this.

Hello,

Thanks for your query.

You description of symptoms shows that you are having neuralgia (trigeminal neuralgia), which presents with frequent attacks of one side facial pain and tenderness. It is caused by pressure or irritation of nerve by abnormal blood vessels, neck arthritis, trauma, multiple sclerosis or metabolic disorders.

It can be treated with antiseizure drugs such as Tegretol or Neurontin. Some antidepressant drugs also have significant pain relieving effects.

You also need to rule out sinusitis which may sometime present similarly.

You are advised to visit Neurologist and get CT scan MRI tests

Hope it helps.

Take care!
