HbA1c of 6 % is diagnostic of diabetes. In this situation the pain in the sole of the foot may be due to Diabetic neuropathy. It is due to the complication of long standing diabetes where the peripheral nerves are affected due to prolonged hyperglycemia. in this condition I would advise my patients to have a tight control of blood sugar. Drugs like Gabapentin can be used to manage the neurological pain. Consult your doctor and get a nerve conduction study done.
