Pain And Swelling After Fracture Of Radius And Ulna. Unable To Extend Elbow. Healing Period?

I shattered my radis and fractured my ulna . I have 5 screws on the thumb side. The pain is horrible with constant swelling . The doctor that did the surgery states that I may loose wrist movement. Along with the swelling I have to keep the arm elevated and bent at the elbow . I had a full cast past the elbow for 4weeks. Cast was replaced with short cast . Still not able to extend elbow. It is 5weeks now. How long will this continue to be painful with swelling? What is the healing period.

Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
Hello.
Thanks for writing to us.
The multiple fractures in both bones of forearm may cause pain and immobilization even after the surgery. The stiffness in the joints that you are having can resolve with regular physiotherapy sessions.
I hope this information has been both informative and helpful for you.
