Overweight. Feet Is Hurting And Aching Constantly. Unable To Do Exercises. Suggestions?

I'm 47 , 5'2" and am 35-40 lbs overweight. My feet hurt all the time and have for the past 12 months. And it feels like my bones not muscles. My pain is on the tops and bottoms where my 3 middle toes connect. My right foot is worse than left but both ache constantly. Sometimes my right 2nd toe swells, otherwise no swelling or discoloration. I don't have heel or ankle pain. It is impossible for me to do any exercise or activity that requires me to be on my feet. The only thing that doesn't hurt is an elliptical machine, but my feet get numb on it. I just believe that if I can shed at least 20 lbs my feet would stop constantly aching.

If this is due to my weight, it makes sense, as I've never been more than 10-15 lbs too heavy until a couple of years ago and started gaining much more. If it is my weight, how the heck do I lose it in a healthy manner, if I can't stand to be on my feet? My darn feet hurt even when I am lying in bed - I have to turn my legs sideways so my toes aren't pushing against the covers. And foot rubs are out of the question - it hurts too much. Any suggestions?

Hi,
Though the pain could be easily related to your weight, you should get an orthopedic's opinion to exclude any other cause. If you cannot stand and do some exercise, you can practice yogic postures; in fact, there are some postures to cure pains and you can get proper instruction easily available. In addition, you should plan your diet. Meditation also has been shown to effect weight reduction. You should take vitamin and mineral supplements considering your age. You can try wearing arch supports if you have flat feet as the cause of the pain. Hope this helps.
