Open Ulcer Under Tongue. Normal To Have It Lasered And Biopsied?

I have a open ulcer under my tongue for almost a month now and have tried everything and anything over the counter from numbing agents to mouth washes and it will not heal. Finally went to my dentist and he said it needs to be lazered and also biopsy . Biopsy is a bad word to me. The sore is small but open and white around the edges. Is this normal to have lazered and biopsied. Why would he not first try a prescribed medicatioin?

Hi.open sore under the tongue is mainly stress ulcer.but it will not be for one month..as u tried all types of treatment dentist adviced to for biopsy to get proper diagnosis and treat it accordingly
