Dear Patient..

Diabetic patients are very prone to neuropathies... that can be peripheral neuropathy.. but as you have numbness in one hand only... its likely to be due to entrapment neuropathy for example carpel tunnel syndrome.
For perfect diagnosis we need to know which fingers and how much area is effected..
Do u feel any pain there?
Is there any problem in gripping.

It is also required to see the deep tendon reflexes and exaamine sensory system at that area. So you can meet your doctor . He can help you with this and if reuired will do Nerve Conduction Velocity test.
