Old Aged, Weak, Unable To Finish Sentences, Recovered From Bronchitis. What Signs Indicate Requirement Of Ambulance?

My grandmother is talking in words that don t make sense or is not being able to finish her sentences. She is very weak and she just got out of the hospital with bronchitis . She doesn t seem to need an ambulance, but what should I be looking for in her as signs she might need an ambulance? What should I do if she does need an ambulance or needs to go to the hospital?

Psychiatrist 's  Response
Hi there ~

I understand your concerns. Being old aged and weak and unable to finish sentences, while you are recovering from a bout of bronchitis is a sign of an illness that would otherwise be called dementia. However you do not need to worry, and there are many long term care facilities that can care for the situation your grandmother is facing. Sleep difficulties add to the problems. An evaluation by a geriatric psychiatrist or a geriatric specialist internist might be able to give you the right direction regarding treatment and disposition.

I hope this helps. Take care and have a lovely day!
