Occasional Left Arm, Shoulder, Breast Pain Before Period. Anxiety Previously Diagnosed, Treated. Family History Of Heart Problems. PMS?

I sometimes experience a dull, aching pain on my left arm, shoulder and breast before starting my period. Could this be a PMS symptom? It doesn't happen every month - sometimes a few years will go by before I have an episode, and sometimes I'll have two to three episodes in different months throughout the year, but not consecutively. A couple of years ago I had an episode where besides the pain, there was tingling up and down my left arm. With a family history of heart problems, high blood pressure and high cholesterol (myself included), I decided to go to the emergency room to make sure I wasn't having a heart attack. The diagnosis was not a heart attack, but rather anxiety in which I was given a prescription for Xanax.
* I am 44 years old, and have had a history of high blood pressure and high cholesterol which seems to fluctuate. Currently they are at normal levels without the aid of medication which I have had to use on and off previously to help keep them at normal levels.
Could this be a symptom of PMS? Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,
Thanks for writing to us.
These symptoms maybe because of PMS also but because you are 44yrs. Of age and having a history of blood pressure and high cholesterol in my opinion you should always think about heart problem also.
You should get your check-up done regularly but don't worry and not be stressed because of this.
Good luck.
Take care.
