Noticed Red Spots On Penis. Is It Genital Herpes Outbreak?
Hello, I noticed small red or pink spots on the head of my penis a week ago. There were some near the urethra and more concentrated on the left section of the glans of the head. There are also 2 larger red spots on the shaft. One on the underside and the other on the right side. The ones of the side have been itching and a slight burning/tingling sensation. It appears that the ones on the glans of the head are beginning to go away but the ones on the shaft have remained the same. I have an STD check tomorrow afternoon but am unsure if I can make it due to my work schedule. What does this sound like to you and will it go away ? I think it may be a genital herpes outbreak but I'am not a doctor so...Thanks.
Hello user, I think you should go for STD check, and most probably as per your history its , genital herpes, as has burning and tingling sensation.
The other differential diagnosis is candidal(fungal) infection. They are seen mostly in sexually active young people, but can also be found on non active males/females as fungal spores are freely found in atmosphere.
If you have a sexual partner, you are adviced to use barrier protection for few weeks and yeah don't forgot to treat your partner too !
get well soon.. regards, Dr Hari Om Chandrakar MBBS
