Not able to control urination urge. Fungal infection on the penis.Using antifungal cream. How to stop the fungus spreading?

Hi Doctor, my father in law who is bedridden has lost his ability to pass urine on his own and requires a CIC to draw out his urine every 4 hours. During the past week, we realised that small amount of urine flows out and caused him to have fungus on his penis and scrotum . He is already having using the Antifungal cream, but please advise how can we assist to clean the area to speed up the spreading of fungus?

Hi Panganita,
Thanks for posting your query.
With old age, as the immunity of body decreases patient is more prone to fungal infection. These fungus are normally present in our body but grow when immunity is down.
You should consult with physician and surgeon for rapid recovery.
Apart from anti -fungal ointment, you should maintain hygiene.
You should also take immunity increasing medicine.
Best regards,
