Hi,
PET-CT is a type of scan in which two type of injections are given.
One is a intravenous contrast material which will be given during routine CT scans and another is a radioactive material which is attached with a sugar molecule (usually 18F-FDG ).
The amount of 18F-FDG given is very small. It is not going to harm you in any way.
Drinking lots of water (1.5 - 2 Liter ) helps you to excrete all the intravenous contrast in a short span of time. So it is routinely recommended to have lots of water after CT scan.
