Neck Near The Thyroid Area Have Become Extremely Sore And Sometimes Painful. What Is The Treatment Should I Go ?

Hi, I have for a few years had nodules on my thyroid. I ve been doing well, health wise. But about a 2 weeks ago my neck near the thyroid area have become extremely sore and sometimes painful. Difficult to swollow or raise my voice. My Doctor has given me a sona gram. I m now waiting on results. What should I do. Also should I go to E.R...Last night there was pain and difficult to sleep. Please inform. Age 63, gender-Female

Thanks for query,
your case is to be evaluated.
You might have thyroid or some mass in your throat giving you this trouble.
Go for thryoid test and direct laryngoscopy to rule out any pathology in the throat.
