Neck And Back Pain. Hard Muscles, Shoulder And Hand Pain. Suggestion?

Hi, i am 26 and suffering with neck and upper back pain since long time, it started when i started bike driving. My muscles below neck(both the sides) are hard and painfull, both the sholders are also paining and pain travels to hands also. We have seen many doctors, there is no problem in spine alignment. Tried set of exercises for more than 2 months but no result. Please suggest.

Orthopaedic Surgeon, Joint Replacement 's  Response
Hi, my propable diagnosis based on your description is "cervico brachial neuralgia" which means that the nerves coming out of the neural foramina are being irritated either by the cervical discs or by the osteophytes. To confirm the clinical diagnosis, you need to undergo MRI scan of your cervical spine. The initial management for this problem would be as follows -
. Avoid keeping bulky pillows beneath your head
. Use cervical collar during day time
. Avoid lifting heavy weights as this may cause traction on nerve roots
. Physiotherapy to strengthen your muscles
. Intermittant hot fomentation
. Analgesics & muscle relaxants

Wishing you a quick recovery. Bye
