Hi.. High cholesterol levels are one of the risk factors of stroke.. A mild to moderate high values are not significant to cause the stroke. However, if you do not include alterations in the lifestlyle in restricting the cholesterol consumption, the mild to moderate values are definitely going to be severe once and adding to the risk of stroke and heart conditions.. So its time to include modifications in the diet..

It is important that you check for the percentage of LDL cholesterols in the protein supplement that you take. HDL cholesterols are safe... So recheck the label....

Hope this message has helped you in providing the information that you wanted.. All the best...

welcome to hcm.
what is your age..?your ldl and chol. level is called borderline high...what about your triglyceride level which is also important..is there family history of diabetes,hypertension,hyperlipedemia..?
family history also matters for stroke...so you have to change your life style.take low fat,low chol. diet.go for exercise regularly.swimming, yoga will be helpful.
consult your physician for better further guidance.

Hello.Welcome to HCM forum.Ideal levels of LDL are below 80 mg.So considering that your LDL levels of 170 mg is very high.High levels of cholesterol causes increased atherosclerosis and definitely a risk factor for future STROKE OR MI.Continue your exercises, change your supplement, reduce your intake of animal products and check the cholesterol level again after 3 months. If still high, then take anti cholesterol medicine in consultation with your doctor. Also get your BP,sugar, thyroid etc checked up.Thanks and good luck.

welcome to healthcaremagic
thank you for the query
hdl should be moare than 40 and higher is the better
total cholestero should be below 250
higher the ldl is higher the chance of ill effects
your reports are withi normal range but it will be better to get a medical check up and rule out hypertension ets
it is good you are having regular exercises
