My knees makes a very noticeable noise when I bend them. What could be the reason?

My knees makes a very noticeable noise when I bend them and they hurt when I have them stretched out. They sound like an old creaky stair case. What could possibly be wrong; circulation? I thought it may have been from not exercising or just stiffness . I ve exercised and I m still having this issue?

may be due to loose bodies, osteoarthritis, x ray need to be taken
consult orthopedic surgeon

You might be having osteo phytes which is giving noise on movement dut to friction
with surrounding structure.Get done X- knee ap and lat view it may reflect in it. thanks
