My Father Have Had Heart Problem, Please Suggest Him

Hi My father had a cardiac arrest about 8 years ago. His heart stopped beating for about 10 minutes. He was in a coma for 20 or 30 days and he got better slowly. Now he is physically fine, I mean that if you look at him you can not recognize he has any problem. But he can not control his piss and pee. He can feel everything, he can see and hear and even he can count and memorize something for a short time. He sometimes say poems but his learning is very weak. Can I do anything for him ? Sincerely yours - Omid Ghasemi

Hi... Brain damages are most often irreversible.. The chances of reversibility is only be therapies.. Though it has been too long to expect improvement, continue with the therapies if any.. Your care and love is very important in helping him improve.. So continue with it.. All the best...

Hi Omid,
Welcome to HCM.
Cardiac arrest lasting for nearly 1o minutes is surely going to cause damage to brain tissue. This must be the reason that he does not have voluntary control over his bladder as well as the short memory.
Of course the doctor treating him must have done his best to manage the condition to the best of his ability.
What you can do is give him loving care and see that he doesn't feel embarrassed about his present situation.
Wishing you daddy all the best.
