My Daughter 5 Years Having Fever And Cough Since One Month
My daughter 5 years having fever and cough since one month and medicine had given including antibiotic medicines like augmentine and injuction gentamicine. But still having fever some times. Done TB test, it is negative. Now bood given for culture. Doctor , from blood culture what all things we can find?

Blood culture is usually done to grow Bacteria, & some time to find out fungus or virus
and identify them and at the same time sensitivity to Anti Microbials are tested. it usually done in severe sickness or whenever there is no response by regularly used medicine.
u shoul go for widal test also.

The culture and sensitivity test is to grow the bacteria/fungus causing the disease .The samples are selected based on the system involved , i mean if patient has cough then sputum is taken and if burning urination then urine is taken as the sample and the bacteria isolated. In some cases where the sample fails to grow the infecting bacteria then blood is take as sample .The theory is simple , as the blood moves all over the entire body the possible infecting bacteria or the fungus can be isolated and the sensitivity tests show which antibiotics will kill the bacteria better and put on the patient.
