My Dad Having Liver Cirrhosis Problem, Please Help Him
hi my dad having liver cirrhosis problm .he is 58 years old... Drs. suggested us to go for liver banding coz as according Drs. internal bleeding is continue..and last week he had black colour's stool too... and in jan and in march he admitted in hospital... coz he was hvin unconciousness kind of position..he was talking dont know wht he also didnt knw..he was forgetting things... so nw what should we do i m realy confused..should we go for that banding...?? is it good or can help us? and what r the side effects of it ? or there has gt any other way to get rid of this liver problem ? pls help me out im realy feeling very healpless.pls pls pls...help me
If there is problem with the liver, then there is chance of internal bleeding which is called a varices. It is mainly esophageal varices and that can be corrected endoscopically so as to prevent blood loss.
Hello.Welcome to HCM forum.CIRROHOSIS means irreversible liver damage.Go for banding as your father is having bleeding varices.overall 5 year survival is 50%.The only and definitive treatment for cirrhosis is LIVER TRANSPLANTATION which increases 5 year survival from 20% in end stage disease to 70%.Thanks and good luck.
