Multilevel Cervical Stenosis,spondylosis,anterior Osteophytes.Treatment?

I have a history of hydrocephalus due to aqueductal stenosis with secondary type one arnold-chiari malformation which was decompressed in 1978. I now have multilevel cervical stenosis, spondylosis, and anterior osteophytes. I ve had a progressive difficulty with swallowing over the last five years. I have to keep my neck straight when I swallow. Any twisting or bending can cause choking. Most recently, I ve had problems with choking on my own saliva when my neck is tilted(i.e. sitting back in recliner). Any thoughts or recommendations?

Orthopaedic Surgeon, Joint Replacement 's  Response
Hello,
I have studied your case. Most probably along with Arnold chiari malformation there is also fusion of various cervical vertebra causing difficulty in neck movement.
I would recommend you to meet neurosurgeon and discuss these possibilities. He would like to get CT and MRI of the spine. If there is fusion since birth nothing can be done but if it is due to a newly develop bone spur then it can be treated with excision of the bone spur.
I hope this answer will be useful for you. Let me know if there is any other followup questions.
thanks
