Muffled Hearing, Cold. Swelling In The Eustachian Tube. Diagnosed With Obstructive Sleep Apnea. Any Suggestions?
For the last two days I have had muffled hearing in my left ear that I attributed to a combination of the cold I was getting over, and really bad allergies both leading to swelling in my Eustachian tube . Today I developed a sharp pain when ever I burp. I am 27, 250 lbs and recently diagnosed with severe obstructive sleep apnea .
Hello
Welcome in H.C.M. for consulting
I read your query thoroughly and came to know that your both problems ear ache and sleep obstructive sleep apnea are due to abnormality and infection of nasopharynx. You are advice to go for these basic investigations-
(1) T3,T4,TSH.
(2) Lipid profile.
(3) Blood- C.B.C., blood sugar (F & PP), uric acid.
(4) Sleep study.
(5) C.T.scan paranasal sinuses.
(6) Culture & sensitivity of throat swab.
After this much work a thorough ENT examination by specialist is important to rule out any obstructive pathology in nose and nasopharynx, condition of tonsils, uvula and palate. Thus examination findings and there co-relation with inferences of investigations are the deciding factors for proper management.
hope your query is explained.
with Regards.
