Muffled hearing after ear tube insertion attempt. Normal?

Hello, i had an ear tube insertion attempt yesterday to try to alleviate eustation tube dysfunction...Once my ENT inserted the tube, my hearing became instantly decreased and muffled. I told her this and asked her if this was supposed to happen or if i was to have improvement immediately. She said you should have immediate improvement. I told her i didn t, it was worse, she then removed the tube...and told me to see her in a week. I now still can t hear out of that ear and it is day 2. Is this normal? Did she do a myringotomy to insert a tube?

Without myringotomy the tube can not be inserted .
You should have had improvement in hearing .
Now what you can do is get pure tone audiometry test (hearing test) done to see for the status of hearing and discuss with your doctor .
You may also require antibiotics and decongestants so that the hearing is not affected by any fluid collection or edema and the test results are correct.
In addition tell to your audiologist about what happened so that he can look out for nay loss and can come to a conclusion.
In doubt do reply
