The causes of Recurrent Mouth ulcers are Dental, Nutrition and Personal Hygiene. So it is as good to see the dentist first to rule out any dental causes of mouth ulcers or sore mouth you have. We would recommend 1) Rinse your mouth with salt water, baking soda (dissolve 1 teaspoon of soda in 1/2 cup warm water), diluted hydrogen peroxide or elixir of diphenhydramine (Benadryl). Be sure to spit the Benadryl out after rinsing. 2) Cover lesions with a paste made of baking soda. 3) Try over-the-counter products that contain a numbing agent, (Smile Gel which is an OTC and DOLO 500 mg if severe pain ) 4) Avoid abrasive, acidic or spicy foods that can cause further irritation and pain. Take liquid diet for few days, usually minor canker sores heal in a week. 5) Apply ice to your canker sores or allow ice chips to slowly dissolve over the sores. 6) Brush your teeth gently, using a soft brush and toothpaste 7) Dab a small amount of milk of magnesia on your canker sore a few times a day. This can ease the pain and may help the sore heal more quickly. 8 ) Not drinking carbonated beverages or alcohol. 6) CLORHEXI Mouth wash twice daily in the morning and evening will help you. 7) Manage the stress effectively as emotional break down decrease the immunity and cause the Canker sores.
