Mosquito Repellant Swallowed By Child, Released Through Urine. What Could The Side Effects Be?

Dear Doctor,
My son 3.5 years old taken mosquito repellent liquid from a container three months back. Immediately we rushed to Doctor and he get admitted to hospital an consultant Doctor provided with saline to release the repellent from stomach through urine, after two day's of treatment he got discharge from hospital. Now he is fine.

My present question is what may be the future side effect for drinking mosquito repellent in his body and what precaution/treatment I must take for him. Please provide me the suggestion.

Welcome to HealthCare Magic

Hope you are doing good. As you have mentioned that you son took it 3 months back. So it wont have long term effect if was managed properly at that time in ER. any how Mosquito repellent have N-diethyl-benzamide or a similar analogue which causes weakness in the muscles and if the dosage is heavy it can cause difficulty in respiration as the respiratory muscles get weak but the effects take place after hours or few days.

its almost three months by now , those chemical wont have any further effect on your child health.

I hope have answered your query. Feel free to ask
Wish your son good health. Regards
