Missed Period. Why Did I Spot? Possibility Of Pregnancy?

Hi. I am 26 and have five boys. My youngest just made 2. Anyway my periods are always regular and the only time ever late/missed was when i was pregnant each time. Last month my period was a week late and the day before i finally started we had unprotected sex (i was waitin for my period to start my birth control ) anyway that period last six days. This month i was supposed to start 8 days ago. I spotted on and of for five days and now nothing. Never started my period so i took a hpt and it was negative. I am just wondering if there was a possability of pregnancy or if i should just make an apointment to see a dr.

Hi,
Since you have always had regular periods, the first thing you should suspect is pregnancy. As your HPT is negative, you can either wait for a few days before repeating the test or get an appointment with your doctor for further assessment. Protection in a cycle from birth control pills depends on the timing of the pill. Another possible reason for your irregular periods could be a temporary hormonal imbalance that could have various reasons the most common ones being stress and overweight. Please get further suggestions from your doctor. Good luck.
