Although sometimes it is necessary, narcotics like morphine and dilaudid are rarely the right treatment for pain related to endometriosis. That is because they only treat the pain, and they can cause dependence and addiction, while the primary cause of the endometriosis is not corrected. There are many ways to treat endometriosis though, and this requires a careful evaluation of each case, and sometimes it takes time to find what works for you. Possibilities include using progesterone by pills or shots, using birth control pills, using medicines that suppress your periods such as Lupron, and sometimes surgery is indicated. I am not sure what your doctor has already tried, but you should discuss these options with him/her to decide how to treat your disease. I know that endometriosis can be very frustrating, so I wish you success and strength in combating your disease and in finding relief. Please let me know if you have any more questions.
