Meaning Of Complex Cystic Nodule Containing Heterogeneous Soft Tissue?

I am booked to have a biopsy done on some solid nodules found at the junction of the right lobe and isthma. A complex cystic nodule contianing heterogeneous ( I dont even know what that means ) soft tissue density within the isthmus measures 1.7 x 1.2 x1.9, the nodule is avascular. In the left lobe a hypoechoic solid nodule measures 1.1 x1.0 1.2 also avacular. There is impression of additional 3.0mm solidhypoechoic nodule of the lower pole of the left lobe. No microcalcifications within any of the nodules. No tracheal deviation or retrosternal extension. No lymphadenopathy

Hi,
Thanks for writing in.

Your thyroid imaging repost shows the presence of at least 3 nodules of which one at the junction of right lobe and isthmus is complex. A nodule having complex nature is best analyzed pathologically to know the type of cells within. Though most nodules are benign in nature, it can only be confirmed by biopsy.
