How concerned should I be with ultrasound results stating: a 1.9 cm complex cyst in my right ovary that demonstrates some internal echoes. There is a small amount of free fluid in the cul-de-sac. I am 38. I'm wondering what the chances are that this could be cancerous. But the size is so small I'm hoping it might still go away on it's own. I have to wait almost 3 weeks for my next appointment! I'd appreciate any input. Thanks!
In your case most probably it is due to benign cause. Generally complex ovarian cysts are non malignant, but it is important to see for age and associated secondary findings like ascites, enlarged lymph nodes and peritoneal deposits. Presence of these secondary findings need further investigations like CT Scan. Tumour markers should also be done if there is doubt. You should consult your gynecologist for further evaluation. Hope i have answered your query.
