MRI Showed Severe Canal Narrowing. Diffuse Ventral Thecal Sac. Unable To Pee, Leg Numb. Need Surgery?

MRI showed severe canal narrowing L5/s1. With diffuse annular bludge that indents the ventral thecal sac. DIsc osteophye complex and something else I can't read looks like facet hypert.....another site says diffuseannular buldge with superimposed left subarticular disc extrusion that indents ventral thecal sac. This is l4 l5. I stopped being able to pee 2 weeks ago and now my right leg is pretty numb. How bad does this sound? Will I avoid surgery. Or does it get worse. I am 38 with three little kids that need me to be their mom not hauled up in bed

Hello.
Thanks for writing to us.
You are having a nerve compression that is sever enough to cause the urinary symptoms. This definitely needs a surgical treatment for improvement of symptoms.
I hope this information has been both informative and helpful for you.
