if you have disc bulge than stop body building exercise because it put lots of strain over spinal column.certain type of exercise can do easily which do not cause any movement of back.avoid abdominals and back exercise.do not lift heavy objects avoid valsalv maenuover. risk of neck pain and surgery depend on type of your work.if your work is cause lots of work of back muscle than avoid it.depend upon your posture.depend upon your weight if your obese than your symptoms will be exaggerated. central diffusion of disc cause compression of spinal cord will cause quadriplegia means weakness or paralysis of limb muscle at chronic stage.do gentle isometric neck and isometric shoulder exercise which will help you to prevent cervical degeneration.there is no need to go further examination.if you have tingling and numbness or felling heaviness in you hand then go for MRI ,EMG and NCV test.but first you go physiotherapy clinic to learn exercise how to prevent cervical degeneration further
