Lump Under Sternum, Mild Pain That Eases On Pressing. What Could It Be?

I just had a quick question for a doc, i am 23/male, name is anthony. I noticed today a lump directly under my sternum today, not too hard, mild pain but goes away when i press on it. I ve had a tiny pimple a few months back that i popped before and still contiunes to produce a stench with an odor to it, not too much puss, a very tiny bit. That is what would lead me to believe it s a cyst , but i could be wrong. What do you think?

Hi ,

Welcome and thanks for posting your query to Healthcare Magic.

As per your query you have lump under sternum with mild pain that eases on pressing.

As per your query the most probable possibility appears to be "sebaceous cyst" at the sternal area.
These are the collection of cheezy material in the oil gland which formed due to blockage of oil glands.
For the betterment kindly follow the suggestions below:
-Do not try to touch or scratch or pinch the area as can lead to secondary infection.
- You can apply topical antibiotic cream such as "mupirocin" or fucidin in thin layer two times a day.

As there is discharge from the area so it would be better that it should be shown to either a dermatologist or surgeon who can take it out by simple excision.

Hope these information will help. If you have further queries I will be happy to help.
