There any many causes of swelling in the neck. However, the most common ones are the cervical lymph
nodes. The lymph nodes enlarge when there is a throat infection
, dental caries
etc. Sometimes the lymph nodes persist even after the infections clears. If the diameter of the swelling is roughly less than 1 cm and if it is soft in consistency , you need not worry. Just ignore it.
However, if there are multiple swellings in the neck, firm -hard in consistency , with more than 1 cm in diameter, progressive increase in size of the lymph nodes, with fever
, pain in the lymph node, you need to visit the doctor immediately.
I'm assuming that you are otherwise healthy except for this small lymph node on your neck.
