Lump On Inside Of Vagina, Painful, Bleeding, Pus Discharge. Need To Check?

A couple of days ago I noticed a lump on the inside of my vagina. At first I thought it was a zit, and it didn't hurt unless I messed with it, so I figured I would leave it alone and let it go on its own. Yesterday I noticed it was a little bigger but not by much and still didn't hurt bad. Today it hurt quite a lot, and walking was painful, and it was noticeably bigger, but the lump never had any kind of discoloration. So I decided that I should schedule an appointment to have it looked at. Well a little bit ago I went to get in the shower and decided to take a look at it. I noticed a dark red spot, which i found was blood, and poked at it, and ended up with a mixture of blood and brownish pus. After having it drained, it is considerably smaller and doesn't hurt anymore, but it is still there. Should I still go in and have it checked?

Hi,
Thanks for writing in.

You might have got the lump infected by messing up with it. You should have got it drained by your gynecologist instead of trying it by yourself. Poking and getting the pus out should be done under aseptic precautions. You never know if there is more pus that remains inside and that may give you further pain and discomfort.

I suggest you have it examined by your gynecologist and take a complete course of antibiotics. If its painful you may take pain relieving medications. Wash the area with warm water twice a day. Keep the genital area clean and dry.

Hope this helps
