Lump On Corner Of Eye, Sore To Touch, Getting Bigger. Underlying Cause?
Hi, I have a hard/firm lump on the corner of my eye below my tear duct but very close. It's sore to touch and looks to be getting bigger I went to the doctors a few months back when it was small they told me it was nothing but it's become much bigger in size and I'm worried about what it might be. I'd be great full if you could get back to me and try help me out with some kind of solution to get rid of this horrible lump! Thanks

General & Family Physician, Dr. Vidya KR's Response
Hi, Thanks for using HCM.
Your symptoms are more suggestive of hordeolum( infection of glands in the eye lid). Most of the hordeolum will rupture on its own with in 2 to 3 days. Warm compression helps to relieve early. If not reduced in 48hr of warm compression you can consult ophthalmologist to drain its content. Erythromycin ointment are required in persistent cases.
Proper hand washing helps to prevent spread of infection and avoid sharing cosmetic eye tools with others and remove eye makeups every night before going to bed. these are few measures to reduce eye infections
Hope this helps you
Regards
