Lump On Bottom Crack That Pains Only On Pushing. Internal Hemorrhoid?

i apologize if this is awkward. today while showering i found a small lump between my bottom crack. it is on the left side, only painful if pushed on. I've never been super regular with bowel movements. but i am worried. could this be an internal hemorrhoid? i get freaked out by stuff like this and assume the worst always. my mother has IBS, im not sure if that is a genetic thing or not or if it has anything to do with this. like i said im pretty worried. i can't see it on the outside i can only feel it, and i've never felt it before. i did some other research and it could be an ingrown hair according to other sites but im not sure.another thing to add is i never felt it until after i had touched it to see if it had hurt, now it's a little sore and noticeable.

Hello!

Thank you for the query.

If this lump is getting out from the anus, is close to the verge of the anus, most likely it is a hemorrhoid. In such case, you should be able to notice fresh blood in stool (on the surface of it) from time to time. Itching around the anus should be also present.
If this lump is upper than the anus, between the buttocks (more on the tailbone) pilonidal cyst is most probable. Such cyst is caused by ingrown hair. It can be present without symptoms for some time. However when gets infected, pus accumulates in such cysts what gives plenty of pain.
I suggest you to visit your doctor and have an examination of this area. If it is hemorrhoid, diet change and hemorrhoids suppositories can solve your problem. In case of pilonidal cyst, small surgical procedure should be done.

Hope this will help.
Regards.
