Lump In Armpit, Painful, On Pressing Blood Came Out, Taking Atenolol. Do I Need To Visit And ER Soon?

I found a lump in my armpit this morning and as the day has progressed it is now painful and when I pressed it blood came out. It is about the size of a nickel. I am taking atenolol and tapazole to control my thyroid condition. Do I need to visit and ER soon? My email is YYYY@YYYY

Hi, Since you are having a painful lump in armpit, I think the most probable cause is infection like folliculitis.You should take oral antibiotics with antiinflammatory for 3 to 5 days & use local antiseptic to clean the area.In case the sweeling increases in size or there is any pus collection , then you might have to consult your physician. Hope it helps.
