Hello and welcome to HCM, Skin infections such as boils are common in areas such as ear and the arm pits. They are usually recurrent and may happen due to multitude of factors depending on many factors such as age. Coming to your present complaint: 1. For the ear swelling, if it has become large and painful then in all probability it would have got infected in which case you need to see your doctor immediately for proper treatment. 2. Once both the infections are controlled then you must definitely go for a full work up including you sugar levels to better understand the underlying problem and prevent recurrence. 3. Most of these infections are due to meddling and picking on the lump and skin in the aforementioned areas, so avoid that at all costs hope this helps regards Dr Sriram Nathan
